In the most deprived parts of the UK, more than half the children in an average classroom will struggle to stay in education while dealing with incredibly challenging circumstances at home. School-Home Support looks beyond the classroom to understand the issues that can affect a child's learning. In 2010/11 SHS engaged with over 20,000 children (and their families) and supported nearly 750 schools to work with children in danger of being excluded or failing to engage with learning. This means a lifetime of disadvantage and poverty (nearly half of all prisoners were excluded from school)
"I am very proud to have been the first Head Teacher to bring SHS to the East Midlands; it was the best decision I have made in my 11 years as a Head Teacher. I think SHS is fantastic.”" Michael Jackson, Head Teacher at Seagrave Primary School, Nottingham. |
